How the PaperTrader simulation models a trade
PaperTrader is designed to be realistic enough for deliberate practice while remaining clear about what it cannot reproduce. It uses current Solana market inputs, checks whether a route can be quoted, and applies modeled trading costs to simulated balances.
Market data and token information
PaperTrader uses third-party providers for Solana token discovery, charts, metadata, supply, prices, and swap quote availability. Current integrations include DexScreener market data and Jupiter token, price, and quote services. PaperTrader does not control their availability or accuracy.
If required price data is missing or stale, the simulator fails closed instead of inventing a price.
Market-order pricing
Before recording a simulated market order, PaperTrader requests an executable quote check and then refreshes the reference price. The order is rejected when no route is available or when the refreshed price moves beyond the user's slippage tolerance.
A quote check is evidence that a route was available at that moment. It is not a real fill, and no transaction is submitted to Solana.
Modeled trading costs
The default simulation applies a 0.3% platform fee, a 0.001 SOL priority fee, and a 0.01 SOL bribe estimate. Buy costs are added to the simulated spend; sell costs are deducted from simulated proceeds. These values are modeling assumptions, not a promise of the cost of a real transaction.
On Solana, transaction fees can vary with the transaction and network conditions. See the official Solana fee documentation for the live network's fee model.
Limit orders
A simulated limit order reserves the required paper balance or token amount. The order worker monitors its trigger condition. When the condition is reached, PaperTrader still requires current price data and executable quote availability before recording a fill.
Known limitations
- No real transaction, signature, block inclusion, or failed on-chain execution.
- No guarantee that a displayed price or quoted route remains available.
- No complete model of latency, price impact, liquidity changes, or token restrictions.
- No reproduction of the emotional pressure created by risking real money.
These limits are why PaperTrader should be used for practice and reflection, not as evidence of future returns. Read the full risk disclosure before using the product.
Practice before the stakes are real
Start with simulated SOL, make a trade, and review what happened. No wallet deposit is required for the paper-trading experience.
